One of the oldest estates, Situated at an altitude of 953 Meters, the estate is around 700 Meters away from the National Highway 234 and 30 minutes drive to charmadi ,western ghats. Our estate Situated at Kogodu,Cheekanahalli ,border of Mudigere Taluk,chikamagalore district 120KM distance from Mangalore &14KM from belur this is one of the major tourist destinations ... a major World Heritage Site recognized by UNESCO.
Kanadur estates grows both, Arabica & Robusta and processes the coffee to produce Washed and Unwashed coffees. Each step of the chain is carefully managed to enhance the quality of the final product while protecting the environment. Ripe cherries are identified and hand-picked to avoid damage to the fruit, fermented, washed and dried for the right number of hours appropriate to the elevation and humidity of the estate
Kanadur coffee estate produces other spices products like cardamom, Pepper, clove, cinnamon, Nutmeg, arecanut, etc..
Also we grow 25+ varieties of fruits like orange, Sapota,Jamun, litchi, Mangostean Avacado, Mango, Gua etc
Home to wild boars, civet, deer and different species of birds, especially the mynah (known for its talking abilities) and the peacocks.
Timber
Kanadur estate has abundant reserves of timber, which is grown for shade. The company's timber resources on its estates include Rosewood, Silver Oak, Jackfruit, Jamun, champak tree, Teak, Red shedder, Sandal, soapnut, 150+special verities of flowering trees and other softwood trees.
Origin of Coffee in chikamagalore
In the 17th century, however, an Indian Sufi saint, affectionately called Baba Budan by all, on a pilgrimage to Mecca and Medina in Arabia, was sufficiently roused by the stimulating drink not only to become a coffee aficionado but was innervated enough to defy the law and smuggle seven seeds by hiding them in his robes. These seeds, legends say, were the native plants from the Koffa district of Abyssinia and were planted in Chikamagalore, which is located in the highest ranges in northern reaches of Karnataka in South India. The descendants of those original plants are still growing fruitfully in the region.
